California state route 136 from Lone Pine to Death Valley.

Did you know that the Eastern Sierra makes up almost 10% of the total land area of California?

Yep. That’s a lot of land. Just two counties, Inyo and Mono, together make up almost one-tenth of our state.

What’s more amazing is that almost 93% of the land in these two counties is public land of which almost half of that is protected wilderness; the US National Park Service, US Forest Service (USFS), and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manage our lands for recreation, conservation, and commercial use.

The Eastern Sierra is a topographically and ecologically diverse region of vast deserts, huge mountains, tall forests, cascading streams, and thousands of natural lakes. It’s a big, beautiful outdoor playground where everyone can enjoy adventure, exploration, recreation, and just plain ol’ relaxing.
